Mirka Laura Severa’s view on the absurdity of our society

Mirka Laura Sever is a graphic designer and photographer based in Amsterdam. Her work blends together images and abstract and colourful animations. “I find my inspiration at the bakery around the corner, the supermarket, the airport – anywhere outside in this world!”, the artist tells us. Yet, man is often absent from her pictures, merely leaving tracks or strange clues – a costume, a machine, the fragment of a body… The result forms a pop and rather surreal collection. Humour is a key tool for me, it enables me to criticise a topic in a friendly way”, she adds. Whether it be an artist created from scratch whose career the Trumps follow closely, paper shirts, or even smoothies filled with ingredients as romantic as inedible in Love Me Blender… Mirka deconstructs reality to highlight the absurdity of our society.
