Based in Paris, the 29-year-old photographer and stylist is partial to analogue. “A flaw or an accident is part of the appeal. Which is why I only work with films, and try not to edit my images too much. My approach is instinctive. A detail, a colour, a texture, a face, or the combination of all these elements attract my gaze”, the artist tells us. Straight from a film, Charlotte Haulot’s images form a raw and energetic collection. Her references? Stephen Shore, Joel Meyerowitz and Wolfgang Tillmans. And in everyday life, the photographer is inspired by cinema, streets, music, passers-by, and the colour red – very much present in her images. A spontaneous work in which flaws become sublime.
