2018 is off to a flying start, for Fisheye, which already realised a huge project : to export in China. A great achievement for the French photo magazine, which will be the first one to benefit from such a recognition in the Middle Kingdom.
A few months shy of celebrating its fifth anniversary, Fisheye turns towards the world. A Mandarin edition of the last issue was just released, promising a great journey ahead. This project came from a partnership with International Media Publishing Limited, based in Hong Kong. 80,000 Fisheye issues, fully translated in Mandarin, are now available on newsstands in continental China, Macao, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong. This exclusive presence in Asia will enable the magazine to spread its modern and liberated take on photography. This is a first for the journal, which is now exploring a new continent.
A Parisian gallery, films in virtual reality, a festival in the Rencontres d’Arles, several websites… Fisheye is already quite active. This gateway to China now appears to be a new symbolic direction. The perspective to export in foreign countries, seducing a new audience, keen to discover new photographic horizons is thrilling. And with a special section dedicated to Chinese artists in the last issue, the timing could not be more right. A wonderful surprise at the start of 2018.
