An abandoned hospital, an old butcher’s storage, and imposing 16^th Century fortress. With its 18 exhibitions, Cortona ON THE MOVE Photo Festival dusts off forgotten spaces. For its 7th edition, the festival welcomes international photographers in the hearth of the Tuscan countryside. “Life is in movement, and photography must portray this endless transformation”. The motto of the creators of the festival reflects their will to promote photography as a lingua franca, a borderless alphabet of our times. From its privileged position in the birthplace of European art, the Cortona ON THE MOVE showcases photographic works that “experiment, inform, provoke and inspire”. Among the 18 exhibitions scattered around the city, we can find the extraordinary series The Geography of Poverty by Matt Black, and Adam Ferguson’s last portraiture project: The Afghans.
